BOCA RATON, Fla., Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Mediscan President Dennis Ducham was presented with the Volunteer Service Award from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). The awards event took place at the Hilton Woodland Hills on November 15, 2017.
After Ducham embarked on a tour of CSUN's Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences with chair Stephen Sinclair, he and Mediscan developed a partnership with the university that now includes student mentorship and an annual scholarship to a CSUN graduate student training to be a speech-language pathologist.
"I so enjoy Sinclair's commitment and passion, and I thought this scholarship would be a great opportunity to give back to the community through CSUN," Ducham said. Ducham, who donates personal funds and supplies to the school's Alumni Association alongside Mediscan's contributions, also trains CSUN students on how to advance their interview skills and helps them prepare for the job market after graduation. Additionally, he was a keynote speaker at the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences Hooding Ceremony in 2015.
Diane Harrison, President of CSUN, said of award recipients, "You have shown how generosity and devotion can lift generations of students, helping them to become successful alumni. You have enhanced CSUN's programs and services, improved campus life, and have helped us deliver the kind of impactful education that every student should expect."
