LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Challenging conventions through creative collaborations with visionary artists such as Sebastien Leon has always been a part of what TBWA does. With the relaunch of its network-wide strategic creative competition after a two-year break, it was only natural for TBWA to partner with Sebastien to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art — not a trophy.
The bronze sculpture titled "Rendez-Vous En Orbite" or "Space Rendezvous" mixes elements of space exploration, mineral geometry and architectural construction to form an elevated cluster of four geometric blocks extending into four matrices.
Sebastien's work has consistently drawn from astronomy and space exploration, extending his fascination with stars as a gateway to infinity into his cosmic abstract paintings.
"The marriage of mathematics with chaos, architecture with mineral formation, and technology with nature resulted in this carefully crafted sculpture," said Leon. "TBWA came to me with the idea of pushing the boundaries of what an advertising agency does, of 'disrupting' what a trophy is. I knew then that I could freely create a meaningful and unique piece."
"Everything should serve as a catalyst for creativity," said Lee Clow, Chairman, TBWA\Media Arts Lab & Director of Media Arts, TBWA\Worldwide. "With Disruption a part of our DNA, we don't only believe in creativity, but ideas that disrupt the status quo. It's about connecting with people and making smart, innovative stuff we are proud to showcase. I'm proud to put this collaboration out there in the world for everyone to see."
The 80 lb. sculpture will be passed around the TBWA network from winner to winner. A second sculpture will reside with the artist in his gallery in Los Angeles. A series of 100 signed silk screens inspired by the statue were also designed by Sebastien.
