Merit-Based Scholarships for High-Achieving Transfer Students Still Available at Clarion University for Fall 2016
Clarion is Also Currently Accepting Transfer Student Applications for Fall 2016 Semester
CLARION, Pa., June 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Clarion University of Pennsylvania is encouraging any student interested in transferring, especially those eligible for merit-based scholarships, to act soon while spaces are still available. Clarion boasts a dedicated team of transfer professionals to guide students through the process, as well as a Transfer Center within Admissions to better serve incoming students. With the ability to provide credit evaluations within 72 hours of receiving a transcript, Clarion also offers faculty advisors and one-on-one appointments to ensure transfer students enjoy a seamless experience.
Clarion has numerous formal articulation agreements with schools throughout Pennsylvania and New York and accepts all credits from regionally accredited schools with grades of "C" or better, military Joint Services transcripts (JST's and DD 214) and AP, DSST, IB and CLEP. Worth noting for prospective students outside of Pennsylvania, out-of-state tuition is just three percent more than in-state. Clarion also participates in the PASSPORT program and Program to Program within the Pennsylvania State Community Colleges.
Merit-based scholarships are available to students who meet the academic criteria and are pursuing their first bachelor's degree. The merit-based program represents a continuing commitment to attracting high-achieving students who have at least 12 transferable credits with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from one or more regionally accredited institutions of higher education. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required for the $1,000 award, but students with higher GPAs can receive up to $2,000 per year. It is renewable for a second year in the same amount and contingent upon completing 30 credits while maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the first year at Clarion. The dollar amount awarded is dependent upon the GPA from the previous institution. Students with any level of financial need are eligible for the scholarship, which is awarded through the admissions process -- a FAFSA is required to be on file.
The transfer student scholarship is specifically for bachelor's degree-seeking students attending classes at the Clarion and Venango campuses. Students planning to pursue online degrees are not eligible.
To confirm eligibility for merit-based scholarship, call admissions at 800-672-7171 (ext. 1). For information about Clarion University of Pennsylvania, please visit www.clarion.edu.
