Metro TeenAIDS Honors Booz Allen Hamilton and Abt Associates With Founders Award for a Decade of Investment in DC Youth

WASHINGTON, May 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Booz Allen Hamilton and Abt Associates, two global consulting firms based in the metropolitan Washington DC area are being awarded the Metro TeenAIDS (MTA) Founders Award for the firms' longtime support and investment in the fight against HIV/AIDS and youth health education in DC communities.

The award, which recognizes the partners for supporting and advancing the mission and values of Metro TeenAIDS, will be presented on June 6th 2013 at the Embassy of Italy in Washington DC, during the 20th Annual Metro TeenAIDS Auction and Gala.

Receiving this award in recognition of the support that Booz Allen employees have provided to Metro TeenAIDS is an honor for our firm.  Booz Allen Hamilton wants to invest in our community through support of excellent organizations and leaders, such as Metro TeenAIDS.  We do this through financial support, both personal and corporate.  More importantly though, we provide professional services, board members and –weekend painting crews if we need to!
Robin Portman, Executive Vice President, Booz Allen Hamilton

Since they began to support Metro TeenAIDS, Booz Allen Hamilton and Abt Associates and their employees have donated an estimated $500,000 to the organization's programming; provided over 6,000 hours of in-kind professional services and volunteer hours, and have supported the services of five members of the MTA Board of Directors.

Abt Associates staff work daily to improve the lives and economic well-being of people worldwide.  We know this begins in our own communities.  By supporting organizations like Metro TeenAIDS, we are helping to transfer the learning from our work into best practices and activities that improve our neighbors' lives.
Kathleen L. Flanagan, President and CEO, Abt Associates

The Award is the brain-child of Dr. Lawrence D'Angelo, founder and supporter of Metro TeenAIDS, along with Adam Tenner, the Executive Director.  Both wanted to recognize that community organizations are greatly strengthened by support from many partners.

Knowing that we have true partners in thought, in financial investment and in caring about these issues is often the fuel and inspiration that keeps us going in this challenging work, during these challenging times.
Adam Tenner, Executive Director, Metro TeenAIDS
