Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Black History Month, Promotes Black Entrepreneurship with 2nd Annual Black Business Advocacy Day at Michigan State Capitol

What

On Tuesday, February 26, 2013, The Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce, the governing body for all black chamber of commerce organizations within the state of Michigan, announces its second annual Black History Month Celebration and Black Business Advocacy Day event, to be held at the Michigan State Capitol complex.

 

The theme for 2013 is "Building Economic Power Through Education, Access and Advocacy." Led by the Lansing Black Chamber of Commerce, the 2013 MBCC Advocacy Day will highlight the growing impact black-owned businesses in Michigan have on the Michigan economy.

 

Activities for the event include a keynote address by Robert Fowler, President and CEO of the Small Business Association of Michigan, and a panel discussion about the growth and development of African American entrepreneurship in Michigan led by Yvonne White, President of the Michigan NAACP. DTE Energy is the presenting sponsor of the event.

 

Members of the MBCC delegation will also participate in informational meetings with select legislators in the House of Representatives and State Senate to discuss business and economic issues and the status of black-owned businesses statewide.

 

The event will conclude with Black History Month activities hosted by the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus.

The Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce (MBCC) is a non-profit, nonpartisan, nonsectarian economic enterprise dedicated to the economic empowerment of African American communities.

 

The MBCC will advocate for, charter, develop, support and empower local black chambers of commerce throughout the State of Michigan. MBCC also acts as the voice for black-owned businesses within the legislative process at the state and national levels.
