Milk + Bookies™ Hosts Second Annual Story Time Celebration

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Milk + Bookies™ announced today that they will host their Second Annual Story Time Celebration on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Skirball Cultural Center.  Milk + Bookies™ is a nationwide charitable organization that inspires children to give back, using books as its currency.  The organization facilitates opportunities for children to raise book donations and give back by providing them the tools to host small events nationwide.  Event sponsors include Children's Book-of-the-Month Club, along with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), California Pizza Kitchen, DreamWorks, Porsche and Scholastic.  

"We are thrilled to host the Story Time Celebration for the second consecutive year. Eight years ago, we had a vision of kids getting to experience the joy of giving, while donating books to their peers nationwide. It's incredible to see so many families embracing the cause and giving back," said Executive Director Meredith Alexander.  The Executive Board also includes Heidi Fugeman Lindelof and Laura Zimmerman.  The three mothers, along with their event committee, hope to inspire a new generation to give back and make the world a better place.

Families will be able to enjoy their favorite childhood stories in the celebrity reading room, create story-inspired arts & crafts, photo flipbooks and of course, eat milk and cookies.  The reading room will feature supporters Jack Black, Julie Bowen, DJ Lance Rock, Maya Rudolph, Jonah Hill and Jeff Probst.  There will be a giant "bookstore" where families can select books, inscribe them and donate them using Milk + Bookies™ to distribute these books to children that do not have access to books of their own.  Last year's celebration raised 3,000 books for Operation School Bell.  

This year's Honorary Committee includes Bill Macy and Felicity Huffman, Chris Pine, Dave Grohl, Jason Biggs, Jennie Garth, Jim Carrey, JJ Abrams, Nathan Fillion, Rainn Wilson, Sarah Chalke and Shaun White.  Activity sponsors include Now Flip This, DJ Groovy David, Oh, Rio Productions, Lemonade Cafe, Jamie Johnson Photography and LA Chocolate Fountains.  Arts and Craft sponsors include Educational Warehouse, Kid Concierge and Kimmel Kids.  The invitation sponsor is Cocodot.  Additional participants include Case-Mate and Kidrobot.
