Milken Community Schools will open Southern California's first high school "Fab Lab", already being hailed by MIT as one of the best in the world. The Fab Lab, where students can design and create everything from prosthetic limbs to basketball-shooting robots, will include 3D printers capable of producing a full-sized bicycle. The Fab Lab will be featured in the new Guerin Family Institute for Advanced Sciences, which will be formally dedicated in a special ceremony on Sunday, September 18. The state-of-the-art Institute will bring science to life with cutting-edge technology and allow students to connect with experts from around the world, including astronaut Buzz Aldrin, inventors, and engineers. |

BACKGROUND: Milken Community Schools was founded in 1981, and has occupied its current 11-acre location along the Mulholland corridor since 1998. A non-profit private school, Milken's educational philosophy stems from ethical and spiritual values rooted in the Jewish tradition.
