"Million Student Study" Math Grant Opportunity Extended
Widespread Interest, Test Prep Possibilities Drives Decision
NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- JRL Enterprises announced today that they are extending the deadline for their "Million Student Study," a large-scale RCT focused on the I CAN Learn® Program's impact on mathematics achievement.
"Given the great response to our first round of grants and multiple requests for an extension, we have decided to extend the opportunity for schools and districts who were unable to apply the first time," says John Arnold, Vice-President of Sales for JRL Enterprises, Inc. "Additionally, this extension will give schools and districts an opportunity to use the program for Test Prep in time for their upcoming high-stakes tests."
The grant award will cover one-half of the three-year implementation cost of a choice of three configurations of the I CAN Learn® Program – the Premium Site License, the Basic Site License, and the Current Station License (25 student minimum per classroom). This represents a 50% savings on a math solution that has already been proven to be "cost-effective" in a study by researchers from Princeton University.
This large-scale research project will be conducted by Dr. Geoffrey Borman of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Borman is a Principal Standing Panel Member of the Education Systems and Broad Reform Research Review Panel of the U.S. Department of Education, Institute of Education Sciences. Dr. Borman's distinguished participation will ensure that this study is conducted to the very highest of academic and scientific standards.
Already used in over 400 schools nationwide, the I CAN Learn® Program has received the What Works Clearinghouse's highest recognition of "Positive Effects." Over 17 years of scientifically-based research prove its success at raising students' high-stakes test scores.
Grant Applications will be accepted through February 29, 2012. Only 10 awards will be given, and applications will be reviewed and decided upon as they are received, so early submissions are encouraged. For schools and districts interested in Test Prep, early application is encouraged as well to make best use of time remaining before high-stakes tests.
