MiraMed Provides Coats to Those in Need with Its Circle of Warmth Campaign

JACKSON, Mich., Feb. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- MiraMed Global Services, Inc. (MiraMed), a leader in healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM) services and business process outsourcing (BPO) solutions, is pleased to announce that its recent Circle of Warmth campaign raised $75,000+ dollars for those in need this winter.  This money is being used to source the durable EMPWR Coat from the Empowerment Plan that can transform into a sleeping bag at night or an over-the-shoulder bag when not in use. 

Jackson, Michigan has been the home base for Anesthesia Business Consultants (ABC) since its founding in 1979, and its parent company, MiraMed Global Services, also based in Jackson.  ABC and MiraMed's commitment to the local community piqued interest in a charitable program helping those close to home. 

MiraMed worked with The Empowerment Plan, a Detroit-based nonprofit organization focused on permanently elevating families from the generational cycle of homelessness.  Employees from MiraMed and its subsidiaries were joined in this fundraising effort by the generous contributions from clients and venders. Together, the group was able to raise funds to purchase over 600 coats for the homeless to be distributed nationwide.

MiraMed is proud to provide over 300 coats to local recipient organizations such as the Jackson Interfaith Shelter, Region 2 Area on Aging, Volunteers of America, Community Action Agency, and Do'chas.

About The Empowerment Plan

The Empowerment Plan hires single parents from local shelters and provides them with training and full-time employment as seamstresses so that they can earn a stable income, find secure housing and regain their independence. The individuals they hire manufacture a coat designed to meet the needs of those in the homeless community. The durable EMPWR Coat can transform into a sleeping bag at night or an over-the-shoulder bag when not in use.  It costs $125 and takes 1.25 hours to make a sleeping bag coat. Thus far, coats have been distributed to all 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces.
