MISSION BBQ Supports Wreaths Across America With American Heroes Cups
Portion of cup sales to be donated directly to veterans nonprofit
BALTIMORE, Nov. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- MISSION BBQ, the Baltimore-born fast-casual BBQ restaurant that proudly serves those who serve, announced today that it will partner with Wreaths Across America™ (WAA) through the sales of the restaurant's iconic American Heroes Cups. WAA is a national veterans service nonprofit best known for its annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
Beginning November 12, MISSION BBQ customers can purchase a seasonal white American Heroes beverage cup at any MISSION BBQ location. The American Heroes Cup retails at $3.99 per cup, and MISSION BBQ will donate $2 from each cup directly to WAA. Customers are also invited to bring back their American Heroes cup on return visits to the restaurant and pay a discounted $.99 for a beverage. The WAA American Heroes cup sales will last through the end of the year.
To date, MISSION BBQ and their loyal customers have donated over $3 million to local charities in the communities in which they serve since their inception in 2011. MISSION BBQ estimates customers will donate more than $100,000 to WAA. The actual donation amount will be shared following the donation period. "I am always amazed and deeply touched at the generosity of our customers who purchase the American Hero cups," said Steve Newton, co-founder of MISSION BBQ. "It is not uncommon for our regular customers to purchase multiple American Heroes cups because they know they are giving back to our service men and women."
"Every day we strive to celebrate what makes our country great and to honor those who gave their lives for us," said Bill Kraus, co-founder of MISSION BBQ. "We are truly privileged to be partnering with Wreaths Across America, an organization that shares a very similar mission and values as our own."
This year, National Wreaths Across America Day is December 17, 2016. Each December WAA coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as over 1,200 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. Teammates from each MISSION BBQ location will volunteer on December 17 to assist with the wreath-laying ceremonies at participating local cemeteries.
"Our mission at Wreaths Across America is to Remember the fallen, Honor their families and sacrifice, and Teach the next generation about the true meaning of freedom. Like Mission BBQ, we strive every day to remind everyone what and who makes our country great," said Karen Worcester, executive director of WAA. "We are so pleased to have the support of this patriotic and authentic organization, and are grateful for their service."
American Heroes Cups are available to customers year-round and the $2 donation always goes to a charity supporting veterans and first-responders.
