In her role as executive producer, Shipley will draw on her years of experience in both media and events to conceptualize, program, and produce new and unique live-event experiences for the global media company.
A journalist, analyst, and entrepreneur for 30 years, Shipley has held senior positions at Ziff-Davis Publishing and International Data Group (IDG), where as the executive producer of its premier technology event, the DEMO Conferences, she helped launch business such as WebEx, TiVo, Salesforce.com, VMware, and more. Jason Pontin, editor in chief and publisher of MIT Technology Review, stated, "Her experience in building DEMO to the preeminent technology event of its era, as well as her skills as a journalist and technology analyst, make Chris the perfect choice to execute our ambitious plans for MIT Technology Review's future events."
In addition to her work with large media organizations, Shipley was cofounder and CEO of Guidewire Group, a global market intelligence firm focused on emerging technology markets and businesses. Most recently, she was a Reynolds fellow at the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri.
