Mobileweight Launches Comprehensive Shipping Container Solution To Streamline Global SOLAS VGM Compliance
Powered by INTTRA, the Proprietary Mobile App Delivers Seamless and Efficient Electronic VGM Filing with Carriers Worldwide
NEW YORK, May 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobileweight, LLC (Mobileweight) today announced the launch of its new patent-pending mobile solution to streamline compliance with the International Maritime Organization's new regulation under the Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS). SOLAS requires shippers to provide a Verified Gross Mass (VGM) for intermodal containers in advance of vessel loading. Accessible through a free mobile application for Apple iOS and Google Android devices as well as by a website portal, Mobileweight is the first comprehensive and easy-to-use solution available before the SOLAS regulation goes into effect July 1st.
"Our entire industry is scrambling to find an easy, reliable way to comply with SOLAS – and Mobileweight was created to deliver that solution to shippers, forwarders and NVOCCs around the world. Mobileweight is also a cost effective tool that will boost efficiency, reduce errors, and streamline data transfer," said Dan Gardner, industry veteran and Director of Global Sales. "Shippers will now be able to seamlessly file their VGM from the point of loading within seconds, and transmit it through INTTRA to every major carrier in over 120 countries. We fundamentally believe this is a game changer."
The solution has been designed for ease of use and once the booking has been registered on www.mobileweight.com, users are able to quickly complete the VGM filing. The booking can be accessed through the mobile app or computer by all participants along the intermodal supply chain including drayage companies, suppliers, warehouse teams or 3PLs. Entering the VGM is a Snap. The user has the option to simply enter the combined gross mass or enter the cargo and container tare weights separately. Mobileweight also accepts photos of approved scale tickets with built-in optical character recognition functionality. If the user starts after the container door is closed, the whole process is complete before the truck even pulls away.
"We decided to launch Mobileweight because of the clear opportunity to create a new, and desperately needed, tool for the industry," said Seth Wilson, Chairman of Mobileweight and the Managing Partner of Headhaul Capital Partners LLC. "We are excited about the Mobileweight solution and are looking forward to helping shippers quickly comply with the new regulations."
