Moceri/DM Investments, LLC. Response to Oakland Township's Reply to Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America Discrimination Lawsuit
DETROIT, Feb. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement may be attributed to Dominic J. Moceri, Vice President, The Moceri Management Co.:
"Oakland Township's responses to lawsuits brought by the Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America (MPVA), former Oakland Township Supervisor Joan M. Buser and the Moceri/DM Investments, LLC. does not surprise us, but the disregard of the Fair Housing Act and the lack of respect for the long term needs of its current and future residents does not cease to amaze us.
"Oakland Township's offensive and meritless assertion that the MPVA comes before the Federal Court in this lawsuit with 'unclean hands' in their efforts to fight for the civil rights of their members and the disabled community is unconscionable.
"The Charter Township of Oakland's irrational position that the MPVA does not have standing to protect its members' housing needs is beyond reproach and immoral. These are our cherished and honored veterans. MPVA members fought for our right to live where we chose; should not they have the same right?
"The ignorance and fear that permeates this discriminatory decision by Oakland Township to deny this most needed community resource is beyond our understanding as well as defies State and Federal laws. The unmitigated audacity of the Oakland Township Board of Trustees' position embarrasses everyone in the township, and lacks any social consciousness.
"Blossom Ridge was specifically designed to meet the needs of people who have physical challenges. It also has 53 percent open space and natural lush landscaping surrounding the sophisticated, yet understated architecturally designed buildings. We believe Blossom Ridge would be a community everyone would be proud to have in their neighborhood.
"Blossom Ridge is the right development located in the right places for the right reasons. Its future is now in the hands of the Court and it is our belief that the Court will up hold the law, make the right decision, and Blossom Ridge will move forward."
