The underlying mission is to promote global peace and honor cultural diversity, making the city of San Francisco one of the most desirable destinations for multi-culturally conscious events, for tourists and locals alike. The goal of MODEFA is to help bring minority women artists to the forefront, and raise awareness of the key roles they play in the world, strengthening their positions economically, for a greater participation in the showbiz industry on a national and international level. We showcase fabulous clothing designs that match our modern lifestyles, but are inspired by traditional and ancient ideas and textiles. The event will feature designs and runway models from cultures such as: Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, The Caribbean, The Middle East, Native American, the Mediterranean, Africa and more. Wearable technologies will also be displayed and auctioned off for our charitable cause.
MODEFA is an annual fundraising gala reception for the African Arts Academy, fiscally sponsored by the African American Historical and Cultural Society, based in San Francisco, California. African Arts Academy is a state of the art educational program, focusing on teaching the doctrines of specific art forms originating in the African diaspora, which includes, but is not limited to, music, arts, dance, culinary, fashion, hair, theater and more, based on the spirit of diversity, dynamic growth, sustainability, social justice, and the pursuit of intellectual entrepreneurship, while at the same time preserving one of the world's most ancient, cultural and natural heritages.
