Momentum and Support for Garth Dano for Grant County Prosecutor Grows After Decisive Victory in Primary Election
Dano's experience and message of positive change has greatly appealed to Grant County voters
EPHRATA, Wash., Aug. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In what was supposed to be fairly close race for Grant County Prosecutor, long-time Grant County resident and attorney Garth Dano scored a decisive victory in the recent primary election, winning 58% to 42% over incumbent Angus Lee. Furthermore, a recent poll conducted in Grant County showed that voters supported Dano over Lee by more than 2 to 1 margin.
Dano and Lee will now square off in the general election on November 4.
Garth Dano's positive message of change has greatly appealed to voters in Grant County, including that he will bring his 34 years of legal experience (both criminal and civil cases ranging from contract disputes and water rights to criminal felonies, etc.) to the Office of Grant County Prosecutor, and he will do the following if elected:
- Save Grant County taxpayers money by ending frivolous civil and criminal lawsuits.
- Work with judges, law enforcement, and court administrators to streamline the court's calendars so that civil cases are heard as quickly as possible.
- Train and mentor the younger attorneys in the prosecutor's office, in order to ensure proper and fair handling of all cases
Stated Dano, "As a life-long resident of central Washington, having lived and worked in Grant County for 40 years, and an experienced member of the legal community here, I am committed to providing Grant County taxpayers with a justice system that listens to crime victims, holds offenders accountable, and provides efficient and fair resolution of all cases."
Dano also wants to correct the problems he sees facing the county's civil justice system, such as that it is taking 3-4 years for civil cases to get to trial. As a result, improving the efficiency of the prosecutor's office is something Dano has on his task list as a high priority.
In addition, Garth Dano is widely respected throughout the legal community in Washington State. Salvador Mungia, President Washington State Bar Association (2000) said that "Garth exemplifies the best the legal profession has to offer...and has my endearing respect for not only taking the oath of attorney, but for living that oath."
As Grant County Prosecutor, Dano explained that he will personally work with law enforcement to reduce crime, with a focus on thefts from farms and gang violence which he said are a growing problem for the county. He will also emphasize and lobby for more law enforcement patrols and be a "working prosecutor."
Dano said he will manage the prosecutor's office exercising good judgment and a practical approach. "I want to restore confidence, trust and common sense to the Grant County Prosecutor's office," stated Dano.
