Moms and Jobs (MoJo) Launches 'Get a Blanket - Give a Blanket' Holiday Campaign
Polartec, Dwell Magazine, Circle of Moms, and Klout partner with MoJo to help impoverished mothers and shelters
BOSTON, Dec. 6, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Early-stage social venture Moms and Jobs (MoJo) launches the Get a Blanket – Give a Blanket campaign this Holiday season in conjunction with Polartec, Dwell Magazine, Circle of Moms, and Klout. This campaign is designed to provide homeless shelters with warm blankets in advance of the winter season while simultaneously helping MoJo build its base of jobs for mothers in need. For every one MoJo-designed and manufactured fleece blanket consumers purchase, one will be donated to a homeless shelter. Polartec is providing MoJo with its fleece material for the blankets, donating reduced-pricing to help with the effort.
"Think TOMS only instead of shoes, we're donating blankets," says Darr Aley, Founder of Moms and Jobs. "It's a win-win for everyone. Our customers get a high quality fleece blanket and can feel good about their purchase knowing they are helping someone in need. And as demand grows, MoJo can continue to hire mothers in need. These blankets are truly a gift that keeps giving."
MoJo has partnered with the Pine Street Inn in Boston and the Compass Family Shelter in San Francisco to distribute the blankets. Pine Street Inn is New England's leading resource for homeless men and women, providing shelter, housing, street outreach and job training in the Greater Boston area. San Francisco's Compass agency has six programs that provide services to more than 3,000 homeless parents and children each year, 50% of whom are under age 18.
"The recent U.S. Census showed that 1 out of every 7 people in the U.S. has been stricken with poverty. We have not seen levels of unemployment like this since the early 60s. We all need to help lend a hand where we can and this is a wonderful way to give back this Holiday season," says Michela O'Connor Abrams, President at Dwell Media, whose company plans to help market the campaign to its customer base.
Other partners include Circle of Moms, Klout, and Polartec. Each partner plans to market the campaign to its customers and clients.
This campaign runs from December 6 - December 31, 2010. Blankets are priced at $49.99 each. You can purchase the blankets directly on MoJo's website at www.momsandjobs.com or through links on any of our participating partner websites – Polartec, Dwell Magazine, Circle of Moms, and Klout.
