MongoDB Expands Database As A Service to 14 AWS Regions and Is Named A Strong Performer by Independent Research Firm

NEW YORK, June 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- MongoDB, the database for giant ideas, today announced it was named a Strong Performer by Forrester Research in its report, The Forrester Wave™: Database-as-a-Service, Q2 2017, by Noel Yuhanna. The Forrester Wave recognized that MongoDB's database as a service platform, MongoDB Atlas, is gaining quick momentum. Launched in June of last year, MongoDB Atlas has seen significant growth and already has thousands of users, including industry leaders such as eHarmony and Thermo Fisher Scientific.

To further fuel growth and enhance the developer experience, MongoDB has also announced greatly expanded global support for MongoDB Atlas, which is now available in 14 Amazon Web Services (AWS) regions. Up from five regions previously, the platform now covers the Americas, APAC, and EMEA, giving organizations better control over where their data lives. In addition, a new live migration service makes it easy for customers to migrate existing MongoDB deployments to MongoDB Atlas.

The new AWS regional capabilities allow customers to deploy their cloud databases locally for better performance, reduced costs and improved regulatory compliance. Local, in-region backups are currently available in Dublin and the US Northeast, with comprehensive coverage planned for the end of 2017.

Customers like table-booking service and venue management system, Tablelist, leveraged the migration service to seamlessly import their data into MongoDB Atlas with no downtime.
