MoralEyes Exceeds Year-End Goal With 15,000 Donated Glasses to New Eyes for the Needy

NEW YORK, Dec. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- New York-based MoralEyes, a wholesaler and retailer of reading glasses, sunglasses and eyewear accessories, donated more than 7,000 pairs of new reading glasses today to the non-profit organization New Eyes for the Needy, bringing MoralEyes' year-end total to more than 15,000 pairs of donated glasses.

Inspired by Blake Mycoskie of TOMS shoes, MoralEyes is a one-for-one company, donating a new pair of reading glasses to its non-profit partner, New Eyes, for every pair sold. MoralEyes has now made four bulk donations to New Eyes, each one larger than the last, with a total retail value of over $300,000. MoralEyes CEO Joe Sacks attributes the growth of the donations to the growth of the company and its expanded offerings.

In the coming months, New Eyes will distribute the glasses to individuals in underserved communities who lack access to vision care and correction.

"Reading glasses can foil preventable blindness and vision-related job loss in the elderly, and promote literacy and education in the young and old, but only if they are available, which they often are not."

Going forward, MoralEyes will continue to donate and develop new and innovative ways to help New Eyes.
