More Than 200 Leaders From 31 Countries Sign World Congress of Families Kenya Pro-Life Petition: Supporting the 'No' Campaign - Kenyans Opposed to Pro-Abortion Constitution

WASHINGTON, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With just hours to go until Kenyans vote on a new Constitution, World Congress of Families Managing Director Larry Jacobs announced the results of a successful petition drive "In Support Of The 'No' Campaign – Kenyans Opposed To The Pro-Abortion Constitution (www.worldcongress.org).

Africa has been targeted by international population control groups for legalized abortion despite a 47% drop in Kenyan fertility and projections that show a declining population in the next 50 years. It's reported the Obama administration has spent over $30 million to promote the Constitution that will open the door to a reduction in the black population.

Jacobs: "We urge the people of Kenya to carefully consider the consequences of this fatal move, which could be the first step on a road the West has followed, leading to one-quarter of all pregnancies in the U.S. ending in abortion.  How tragic is it that Barack Obama, America's first black president, would be promoting policies that would kill more black babies. Once again, the legacy of Margaret Sanger is revealed with an agenda to eliminate black Africans. In less than two weeks, the Congress gathered signatures from more than 200 pro-life and pro-family leaders in 31 countries and delivered them to Kenyan leaders.  Signers include former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Former Boston Mayor and Vatican Ambassador Ray Flynn and Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, as well as current or former members of the parliaments of Britain, Australia and the European Union, and the Congresses of Poland and the Philippines.

Jacobs observed: "Kenyans are literally fighting for the hope and future of their nation – the lives of unborn children.  The Constitution, which will be voted on by Kenyans on August 4, includes language which overturns current Kenyan law prohibiting abortion except to save the mother's life. It would allow abortion when the mother's 'health' is affected by a continuation of pregnancy. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines 'health' to include 'complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.' Thus, Section 26 of the proposed Constitution sets up a mechanism for unrestricted abortion on demand at any time during pregnancy."
