SAINT SIMONS ISLAND, Ga., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- The McGladrey Classic, an official PGA TOUR tournament, will bring some of the hottest golfers to Georgia's Golden Isles this fall. More than twenty FedEx Cup contenders have already committed to what is developing as a very strong field. Among the twenty who have committed to play Sea Island's Seaside course in the inaugural event, October 6-10, 2010, are three of the top fifteen current FedEx Cup leaders.

Matt Kuchar, currently ranked first in the standings after his win at The Barclays on Sunday, has committed to play in The McGladrey Classic. Kuchar, a member of the 2010 USA Ryder Cup Team, and his family have a home on Saint Simons Island and enjoy strong ties to the area.
Ben Crane, who moved up one spot to eleventh in point standings, has also committed to play in The McGladrey Classic. A graduate of the University of Oregon, Crane won the 2010 Farmers Insurance Open.
Saint Simons Island resident and Tournament Committee member, Zach Johnson has committed to play in Sea Island. Currently, Johnson is ranked fifteenth in the FedEx Cup points standings. Johnson is a member of Team McGladrey and 2007 winner of The Masters. Johnson trains at the Sea Island Golf Learning Center.
Kuchar, Crane and Johnson join Davis Love III, who will be playing in The McGladrey Classic in addition to serving as its tournament host and chairman. Love III is the assistant captain of the USA Ryder Cup Team which will be held at the Celtic Manor Resort in the City of Newport, Wales the weekend prior to The McGladrey Classic.

Professionals have until October 1 to commit to play in The McGladrey Classic. "It's not unusual for players to wait until the deadline to commit," said Love. "However, since tickets are limited, it will be important for fans to make their purchases early."
