MorseLife first fully insured employer in Florida to offer coverage for married same-sex couples
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Jan. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As Florida's gay marriage ban ended midnight on Jan. 6, senior health services provider MorseLife became the first privately held fully insured company in the state to offer coverage and benefits for married same-sex couples.
"Coverage and benefits for all couples married under Florida law will begin immediately. We are thrilled to be the first fully insured company in Florida to announce this," Kristofer Cooper, vice president of human resources for MorseLife, said. "We are a long-provider of benefits for domestic partners, but we are happy all of our employees will now have the chance to be married under Florida law."
Marriage licenses for gay couples have already been issued in Palm Beach County, where MorseLife is based. Florida is the 36th state to legalize gay marriage.
"This is a continued demonstration of MorseLife's vision, diversity and progressive spirit," MorseLife CEO Keith A. Myers said.
