Leading car hire website announces the most popular holiday spots for the October half term break, when Brits jet off for their last chance of European summer sun
Leading car hire website, 121carhire.com, has revealed its top ten European car hire destinations for the month of October leading up to the last half term holidays before Christmas. While the Faro region of Portugal has taken the official top spot, Spain has dominated the board with 50% of the top ten located in the country.
With temperatures in popular tourists spots such as Spain, Portugal and Greece still standing comfortably at around 20 degrees during the day, families often make a last dash for a sunshine break in the half term October holiday week before the temperatures cool down in November.
121carhire.co.uk, a leading car hire specialist which supplies vehicles in over 15,000 locations across 115 countries, released its top 10 European destinations based on car hire rental figures for September-October 2012. The most popular pick up point was revealed as Faro in Southern Portugal, however Spain seemed the most popular overall. Malaga, Alicante, Murcia, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca respectively, all appeared in the top 10 alongside Lisbon, Paphos and Larnaca (Cyrpus).
Although nine out of the top ten locations were traditional summer sun holidays, in at number four was Geneva in Switzerland, which at this time of year is between its summer season and ski season for travellers, making it quite a surprising entry.
