Mother of Cassidy Mullins, Brutus Buckeye '02 - '07, Launches GoFundMe Campaign to Memorialize Her Son
FINDLAY, Ohio, May 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for a memorial donation to The Ohio State University Brutus Buckeye Fund #640910, was recently launched. The mother of Cassidy Mullins, Sarah Mullins Jones, and her employer, Pride Transportation, ask for an outpouring of love and support to those who have lost a loved one due to cancer by leaving messages on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #TeamBuckeyeCure, as well as contributions to a GoFundMe campaign. People can also find the campaign at www.TeamBrutusCass.com.
Ever since he was a little boy, Cassidy Mullins, Sarah's son, had the dream to attend a major college and have a career in the medical field. In 2001, Cassidy's dreams were realized when he accepted admission to OSU and began working hard to join the local campus community. Cass became Brutus early in his college years and was able to represent his school and support his team at the 2002 National Championship game and the 2003 Fiesta Bowl. After graduation with a degree in Zoology, and a Master's in Pathology, Cassidy went forward full force in life. Tragically, that is where this story starts. At the young age of 29, Cassidy received the news that he had stage four colon cancer. For the last three years he traveled this uphill battle together with the support of friends and family. Unfortunately, Cassidy lost his battle on April 30, 2015.
Pride Transportation and the Sarah Mullins Jones family are teaming up to raise cancer awareness and support to those who have lost loved ones. The Facebook page TeamBrutusCass and the hashtag #TeamBuckeyeCure are available for everyone to use to relay messages, memories and help raise general awareness about cancer. The GoFundMe page BuckeyeCure has been created for supporters who wish to help memorialize Cassidy, or their own loved ones further. All donations will be donated to The Ohio State University in Cassidy Mullins' name for the Brutus Buckeye Ambassador Fund #640910 in order to leave a lasting legacy in his name.
"It's the best thing I've ever done and so much more than what I expected," Mullins said. (on being Brutus)
