Motivate steps up local hiring outreach for Ford GoBike's ten-fold bike share expansion
Bike share operations leader prizes hiring from the community, partnering with local nonprofits, and investing in job training and development for long-term success
SAN FRANCISCO, May 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Motivate, the global bike share leader implementing a new bike share system for the Bay Area that will soon be the nation's second largest, is ramping up efforts to hire qualified local candidates for its team.
The new program will be a 7,000-bike regional network known as Ford GoBike, and Motivate anticipates creating 200 jobs to operate it, by the spring of 2018. More than half of the total positions will be available beginning this spring and summer. Job opportunities include temporary posts for the launch as well as permanent positions, which will help to operate the system once launched. Current job listings are available here.
The diverse set of roles for which Motivate is hiring includes positions from marketing to technical functions to maintain the bike share system. Fully 90 percent of operations jobs are full time positions, paying at or above living wages. The jobs offer medical, dental and wellness benefits as well as 401k retirement benefits. Motivate is a proudly committed Affirmative Action Employer, and encourages minorities, women, disabled persons and veterans to apply for positions.
"Motivate's values are reflected in so much of what we do as a company, and nowhere is that more true than in the kind of employer we aspire to be," said Jay Walder, CEO of Motivate. "We strongly believe in hiring from the communities we serve, and in taking good care of our workforce once hired. For us, being a good employer isn't just about paying living wages and offering generous benefits—it's also about investing in job training and professional development, and creating opportunities for our employees' advancement and long-term success. I'm proud of the reputation we've earned as a responsible employer and full community partner."
"Creating and saving local jobs has been one of my top priorities as supervisor, and that's why I appreciate Motivate's commitment to hire from the same communities that bike share will serve," said San Francisco Supervisor Malia Cohen. "They've taken a thoughtful and proactive approach by partnering with employment-related nonprofits, and I know the new Ford GoBike system will be very well served by their outreach and hiring efforts."
