MCC is a factory assembly of motor starters and controllers in a common structure. These are centralized hubs comprising motor control units sharing a common power bus. MCC, by type, has been categorized into intelligent and conventional. These can be applied for commercial and industrial purposes. A conventional MCC is an assembly of several motor starters having a common power bus and motor control units. An intelligent MCC maximizes the value of components in a given application by using intelligent devices. It provides network communication and extensive functionality, such as network configuration, diagnostics, extensive process information, and advanced protection for each unit. The MCC market has also been segmented on the basis of voltages for which they are employed. These categories include Low Voltage (LV) having motor control center less than 1 kV. The second category is medium Voltage (MV) that ranges from 1 kV to 15 kV.
