Motorcyclist Killed in Crash vs. Tractor Trailer, Family Compensated $1 Million in Legal Settlement
PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Law Offices of Greg Prosmushkin, P.C. successfully settled a case in December 2018 on behalf of a fatal motorcycle crash involving collision with a tractor trailer. The motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a heavy truck in August 2018.
The incident occurred when the motorcyclist was traveling down Ford Road and the truck driver made a left turn in front of him. The motorcyclist was killed on impact. Due to the speed at which he was traveling (85 miles per hour), he was assigned fault for the accident.
The attorney working on behalf of the motorcyclist hired an accident-scene reconstructionist to analyze the scene of the crash and the circumstances surrounding it, and the investigator uncovered video of the scene from the time just before the accident showing the truck driver failing to stop at a stop sign just prior to the collision taking place. It was also revealed that the truck driver had used marijuana approximately 90 minutes before the accident occurred, meaning that he was driving under the influence at the time of the crash.
The insurance companies involved fought the motorcyclist's attorney for three months after the case was opened, but the Law Offices of Greg Prosmushkin, P.C. worked diligently to bring the facts to light. In less than four months from start to finish, the case was settled for 1 million dollars.
