Seeking Social Change Leader to Develop Innovative Strategies that Improve Women's Lives
NEW YORK, Jan. 31, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Ms. Foundation for Women is pleased to announce the launch of a new fellowship program designed to develop leaders who are advancing solutions to the critical issues that women face.
Women continue to be disproportionately impacted by poverty, violence and other forms of injustice. The Ms. Foundation Fellowship provides the opportunity for one dynamic leader to leverage the Ms. Foundation's resources and support while developing promising strategies to shift the cultural and political conditions that enable inequality to thrive.
"The Ms. Foundation has an impressive track record of fostering the growth of movements that promote equity and inclusion," said Ms. Foundation for Women President and CEO Anika Rahman. "By developing an innovative Ms. Foundation Fellowship, we are renewing our investment in social justice leaders who advance change that improves women's lives."
To be considered, applicants must propose a project that addresses injustice against women. The Ms. Foundation is particularly interested in proactive approaches that demonstrate and inspire the potential for large-scale, structural change in the areas of child care (access to affordable care and improved working conditions for care providers), reproductive health or child sexual abuse.
The Ms. Foundation fellow will receive financial compensation and health benefits, in addition to mentorship and support from Ms. Foundation staff. The fellowship is a full-time, one-year commitment, beginning Sept. 4 at the Ms. Foundation offices in New York. The fellow will be eligible to apply for a $50,000 continuation grant upon completion of the fellowship.
Interested leaders can download the application at http://ms.foundation.org/about_us/fellowship-program. Applications must be submitted by April 30.
About the Ms. Foundation for Women
The Ms. Foundation for Women is the leading national social justice foundation committed to building women's power to ignite change. Every day, it helps over 150 grassroots organizations across the U.S. fight for changes like good paying jobs, reproductive health, ending violence against women and girls, and the inclusion of women at decision-making tables. By investing in social justice trailblazers—especially women from low-income communities and communities of color most affected by injustice—it works for a nation in which power and possibility are not limited by gender, race, class, or any other factor. The Ms. Foundation delivers funding, builds skills, develops leaders, connects activists with allies, and amplifies the voices of our grantees to create change that benefits women, families and communities. ms.foundation.org
