MSC Joins National Partnership for Patients Initiative
SimSuite Quality Initiative Programs Provide Effective, Topical Solutions to Help Hospitals meet Partnership Goals
DENVER, April 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Medical Simulation Corporation (MSC) is proud to join Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius' Partnership for Patients: Better Care, Lower Costs effort to make hospital care safer, more reliable, and less costly. MSC's national guideline-based simulation training solutions offer standardized education for all members of the healthcare team in several clinical areas directly targeted by the Partnership's initial goals.
Partnership for Patients is a new national partnership that aims to help save 60,000 lives by stopping millions of preventable injuries and complications in patient care over the next three years and save up to $35 billion in health care costs. Under the direction of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), MSC joins many important stakeholders, including hospitals, healthcare providers and other public and private organizations, in joining the Partnership in a shared effort to save lives, stop healthcare-associated injuries and take important steps toward a more dependable and affordable health care system. "Medical Simulation Corporation is dedicated to creating strong collaborations with hospitals, healthcare systems and the public sector to further the Partnership for Patients goals," says Bill Younkes, MSC CEO and President. "MSC's SimSuite Quality Initiative Programs offer effective, standardized training solutions that strengthen the competence and confidence of all healthcare providers to help organizations meet these patient safety and quality challenges."
MSC is proud to be the first simulation training provider to offer a full suite of Quality Initiative training programs, including the following targeted to three of the nine initial areas of focus by the Partnership:
Central Line Management
Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia
Venous Thromboembolism (DVT/PE)
MSC offers the following SimSuite Quality Initiative Programs in addition to those listed above:
- Sepsis
- Heart Failure
- Stroke
- Door-to-Balloon Time
- Moderate Sedation
SimSuite Quality Initiative Programs feature web-based and hands-on simulation components that support the continuity of best practice-based training for healthcare professionals – within a single hospital or across a healthcare system. Simulation provides a risk-free environment in which healthcare practitioners can hone their skills in managing patients with diagnoses associated with high mortality and high cost to the healthcare system.
MSC has also pledged its support to The Leapfrog Group's statement on the Partnership for Patients initiative, which calls for increased transparency of patient safety data to support the Partnership's goals. MSC is a partner member of Leapfrog, an employer-driven national advocate of healthcare safety and quality. The Leapfrog statement may be found at www.leapfroggroup.org.
