MultiFlap Helps Special Needs Teacher Left Terrified by Rat in her Toilet
WALSALL, England, February 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Last weekend, a trainee special needs teacher from Parson's Green, experienced her worst nightmare when she discovered a huge sewer rat in her toilet bowl after going to the toilet.
Louise Grantham, 25, was alone in the flat she shares with her fiancé, Stephen Gregory, when the unwelcome visitor prevented her toilet flushing. Louise said: "I thought it was strange that the toilet wouldn't flush because our flat is very modern. Then, after the third attempt, a huge black/brown rat suddenly appeared from underneath the toilet paper. It was so big it filled the whole bowl. It was streaming wet and just stared at me. I was absolutely petrified and terrified that the rat would attack me. I barricaded myself in the bedroom until the pest control man came."
Louise said she had no idea rats could enter property via the toilet. "It's my worst nightmare and I've never heard of anything like this happening before. Even the pest control man said he wasn't aware rats could enter from the toilet - but I know the rat wasn't there when I sat down - so where else could it have come from?"
Mark Jones, inventor of the MultiFlap rodent barrier product said: "Finding a rat in the toilet is not an urban myth. That's because the toilet is the last point of entry into property from the sewer. In most property, this entry point is left unsealed, and if the toilet lid is left open, rats can be attracted upwards by the light. What's more, rats are very ingenious creatures. They can hold their breath for up to 15 minutes and tread water for three days, as well as squeeze their bodies through tiny gaps and holes."
Mark believes the recent severe rainfall and flooding is to blame for the increased number of rats entering toilets. Mark said: "We've had a surge of enquires in the last few weeks from people, including Jessica, who have discovered unwanted rodents swimming in their toilet pan. After their ordeal, they want a solution to ensure it never happens again - and MultiFlap offers that peace of mind."
Jessica is currently working with her landlord to have one of Mark's MultiFlap valves fitted to her toilet. Mark said: "A MultiFlap valve fits quickly and easily to the toilet waste pipe. It totally seals entry to property from the sewers. The patented one-way, non-return valve opens so waste can leave, then immediately shuts to prevent rats and other unwelcome pests or effluent escaping back into the toilet bowl. It's a sure-fire way to prevent a rat giving you a fright when you're sitting vulnerably on the toilet."
Jessica said: "I can't wait for my MultiFlap to be fitted. Knowing the waste pipe will be sealed will give me the peace of mind I need to feel safe to go to the toilet again."
