The initiative won the Platinum SABRE Award for campaign of the year and was recognized with Gold Awards in the "Issues Management" and "Government Agencies" categories.
Launched in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, "Stronger than the Storm" focused on changing perceptions and driving visitor traffic by making the public aware that the Jersey Shore was recovering, rebuilding and open for business. The integrated campaign combined PR, advertising, event activations, public affairs and social media to revitalize the economic development of the shore's 130-mile coastline.
As people learned, heard and saw that the Jersey Shore was open, they returned in increasing numbers. Hotel occupancy in the four impacted shore counties was 2.1 percent better than the average over the past five years, and the Jersey Shore was the only U.S. shore area to increase every month as summer progressed.
