Public Service Announcement Gives Details about Free Medical Clinic in Madison
MADISON, Wis., July 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) released a 60-second public service announcement (PSA) today announcing a one-day free health clinic in Madison, Wisconsin on August 9th. The clinic is open to all Wisconsin residents and those in neighboring states as well.
The PSA will be broadcasted throughout Wisconsin radio stations. It will be used to urge underinsured and uninsured patients to make appointments and encourage both medical and non-medical volunteers to register to work at the clinic. Volunteers can register at http://www.nafcclinics.org/.
The clinic will be held at the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center, 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way, on Saturday, August 9th, in Madison. Patient appointments will be available between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Patients are encouraged to call 1-800-340-1301 today to schedule an appointment.
"Daily in Wisconsin, over 50 Free and Charitable Clinics continue to serve the state's uninsured and medically underserved. These clinics are seeing a continuously full waiting room, and continue to have to face the harsh reality of not being able to help them all and turning people away" NAFC Executive Director Nicole Lamoureux said. "We are really trying to get the word out about this great opportunity to receive medical care and health education, while highlighting the great work these clinics are doing every day."
This free clinic event is not just for the sick but also for anyone who is uninsured or has little to no access to medical care and has not seen a doctor recently. The clinic will offer basic preventive primary medical care (including medical exams, diabetes tests, cholesterol tests, EKGs, pregnancy tests and more), 3 free months of medication, health education, on-site insurance navigators and connection to follow up care and the area's safety net community resources.
