Nanomechanics to Host Metal Deformation at Room Temperature Webinar Sept. 27
Leading nanomechanical technology provider will host educational webinar focused on the use of nanoindentation to characterize deformation in metals
OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Sept. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Nanomechanics, Inc., a leading provider of innovative tools designed to enable users to understand, evaluate and test the mechanical performance of materials at the micro- and nano-levels, is set to launch a new webinar Wednesday, Sept. 27, from noon to 1 p.m. EDT. The lecture will explain how nanoindentation can be used to help measure the deformation of metals even at room temperature.
The upcoming webinar on measuring the creep exponent for metals will be presented by Jennifer Hay, senior applications engineer for Nanomechanics, Inc.
"Those interested in nanoindentation will quickly gain a comprehensive understanding of how it can be used to characterize deformation in metals," said John Swindeman, CEO at Nanomechanics, Inc. "Even when one is not testing for creep, awareness of indentation strain rate is critical for determining meaningful values of hardness."
Hay holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Houston and has worked in the field of nano-indentation since 1996, advancing standardization and developing a methodology for new applications. She presently serves as the vice-chair for the MEMS/Nanomechanics technical division of the Society of Experimental Mechanics. In addition to many publications, she has written five invited journal articles on the theory and practice of instrumented indentation.
