Natalie Schleifer and Jack P. Schleifer Foundation's Philanthropy
NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Natalie Schleifer, President of the Jack P. Schleifer Foundation, founded in 2001, continues her father's philanthropic efforts five years after his death – and as an everlasting tribute to his memory. Jack P. Schleifer, Ms. Schleifer's father, died on September 24, 2010, at the age of 96. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Born in Poland, he came to the US in 1922, later attended CCNY and became a CPA in 1941. His lifelong successful career in real estate investment and development enabled him to become a longtime supporter of Israel, Jewish causes and other philanthropic organizations. His personal and Foundation's generosity, with his daughter, Natalie, now at the helm of the Foundation, has, for decades helped to fund:
- Johns Hopkins Medical School
- American Friends of Magen David Adom of Palm Beach
- Jewish Theological Seminary rabbinical scholarships
- Palm Beach Infectious Disease Institute
- Waxman Youth House of Great Neck
- Weill Cornell Medical College
- United Lubavitcher Yeshivot
- Hebrew University of Jerusalem
- Children's Village Orphanage in Jerusalem (for children with special needs)
Jack Schleifer's daughter, Natalie, has continued in her father's spirit of generosity, contributing to Magen David Adom, funding many full year scholarships to Park East Synagogue Day School in Manhattan and the Hillel Torah Day School in Chicago. As President of her father's foundation, she has also made significant contributions to the Central Park Conservancy (dedicating park benches in her parents' names, Jack and Geraldine Schleifer). Natalie has also continued her father's tradition of a sizeable, ongoing grant to Yeshiva University in New York City.
Her father, a cousin of Ben Gurion, contributed to Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel, and often participated in delegations of US leaders and influential people visiting Israel. Mr. Schleifer was, for decades, a benefactor of Temple Israel of Great Neck and contributed to the synagogue's construction. Natalie Schleifer says her greatest hope is her father's "Foundation can outlast me, so as to be an everlasting tribute to him."
