National Disaster Recovery Nonprofit, Compass 82, Takes Official First Step In Helping Texans And Preparing Others
New organization's first of many unique "blueprints" intends to expedite and simplify sustainable recovery for home owners
TOMS RIVER, N.J., Sept. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Compass 82, a new national nonprofit organization, is leveraging its extensive experience in fast-tracking disaster recovery to introduce its initiative to simultaneously expedite sustainable recovery for homeowners affected by Hurricane Harvey's flood waters and prepare others for the potentially damaging effects of impending storm Irma.
Compass 82 Founder and Executive Director Susan Marticek said, "While working on the ground in emergency management and disaster recovery for almost two decades, the common thread I've personally seen among displaced and devastated homeowners is severe mental and emotional overwhelm, which, naturally hinders their ability to think and respond clearly."
Enter the company's first of what will be an unfolding series of easy-to-follow, step-by-step, one-page "blueprints" designed to guide homeowners through the most important steps of the recovery process.
"The lack of succinct and organized protocol for aiding these vulnerable people makes it extremely challenging for them to understand how to obtain what they are eligible for as homeowners," Marticek continued. "Our goal is to simplify the recovery process by breaking down the necessary steps for all stages of recovery in a way that is easy and comprehensible for all parties involved from the onset of disaster to complete, sustainable recovery. I believe this simplified approach has the potential to get homeowners back in their homes and on their feet in a significantly shorter timeframe than what we've seen with previously catastrophic storms Sandy and Katrina."
The initial Compass 82 blueprint, "Filing Your Flood Insurance Claim," can be accessed on its official website.
