National Education Initiative is Catalyst for Education 'Silicon Valley' in Baltimore - Washington Corridor
November event convenes education leaders to restore U.S. education competitiveness
WASHINGTON, Sept. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- National Education Initiative (NEI) and its signature November 10-13 event National Education Week (NEW) will leverage the combination of innovative education companies, the federal and regional government, education associations and a rapidly growing venture fund and private equity community to underscore the Baltimore – Washington Corridor as the "Silicon Valley" of education.
Founded by Bethesda business leader and philanthropist, Devin Schain, NEI hosts a year-round series of events, webinars and networking opportunities designed to restore the effectiveness and competitiveness of the U.S. education system. "We have a unique opportunity in Washington to tap into public and private sector expertise and resources to reinvent U.S. education for the global economy," Schain said.
National Education Week will take place November 10 – 13 in Washington DC at venues such as the Ronald Reagan building, the National Press Club, and 1776. "Innovation is the key to teaching the next generation of students, building a strong educational workforce and increasing the competitiveness of the U.S. educational system. National Education Week will provide the opportunity for thought leaders to convene, challenge and collaborate to reclaim America's competitive educational advantage," Schain stated. "Through public – private partnerships, EdTech startups, government agencies and educational institutions, NEI will facilitate the creation of new methods of learning and teacher training and scalable, cost-effective education models across all levels of learning" he added.
