National Industries for the Blind Named Best Place to Work in Virginia for Second Year in a Row
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- For the second year in a row, National Industries for the Blind (NIB), the nation's leading employment resource for people who are blind or visually impaired, was named one of the Best Places to Work in Virginia by Virginia Business magazine and Best Companies Group.
The Best Places to Work list is a comprehensive assessment of how employees perceive their jobs, covering topics that range from leadership and compensation, to teamwork and work-life balance.
"To be recognized as one of the best places to work in Virginia two years in a row is a special honor," said Kevin Lynch, NIB President and CEO. "Our mission is to create jobs for people who are blind. This award reflects not only our workplace environment and culture, but also the passion and dedication NIB employees have in fulfilling our mission."
The Best Places to Work in Virginia list identifies, recognizes and honors the best places of employment in Virginia. The list is made up of a total of 80 companies, split into small, medium, and large-sized categories. NIB received the award in the medium-sized category.
Organizations from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Virginia. The first part evaluated each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, and demographics. The second part measured the employee experience through an employee survey. The combined scores determined the winning organizations. NIB's final ranking will be unveiled and published in the February 2013 issue of Virginia Business magazine.
