NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tri-State Ford has partnered with Mouse, a national youth development organization, to expand technology education programs throughout the Tri-State region, including 10 schools in New Jersey, Staten Island and Long Island. Ford's support helps Mouse reach hundreds of new students, teaching essential technology skills and expanding students' knowledge of innovative practices like circuitry, game design and green technology.
As a national youth development nonprofit, Mouse empowers youth to use technology as a force for good to solve real problems and make meaningful change in their communities. Mouse is committed to increasing diversity in STEM and creates opportunities for youth from underserved neighborhoods to realize their potential—and the potential of technology—to create lasting change in their schools and communities and fuel the nation's future. To date, Mouse has positively impacted nearly 40,000 students nationwide.
Today's interactive celebration event showcased some of the Mouse projects and lessons that will help teach local students how to use technology as a tool to become creators, designers and makers in their communities. This partnership also highlights Tri-State Ford's commitment to investing in the next generation of technology leaders, supporting STEM programs and curriculum at local and national levels. Ford funding for the project was made possible through a unique partnership with CBS EcoMedia.
"On behalf of the educators and young learners we serve, Mouse thanks Tri-State Ford for its generosity and vision," said Daniel Rabuzzi, Executive Director, Mouse. "The opportunities Tri-State Ford makes possible today are going to take root in these communities and flourish for decades to come."
"The Tri-State Ford dealers are so proud of the area's students who participated in this program and proud to be a sponsor," said John Billard, Tri-State Ford FDAF Chairman. "At Ford we believe that investing in students and STEAM is investing in the next generation of our engineers, technicians, scientists, designers, automakers and innovators - to ensure a brighter future for our communities."
