NEW YORK, March 17, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Back on My Feet, the national nonprofit that seeks to revolutionize the way society approaches homelessness, is honoring Arne Sorenson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Marriott International, Inc. with the Global Corporate Pacesetter Award. The award recognizes individuals and organizations that have set the pace as leaders in corporate philanthropy. Mr. Sorenson will receive the award at the Back on My Feet New York City chapter's Annual Benefit dinner on Thursday, June 16 at the Marriott Marquis where the organization will also be celebrating four years of combatting homelessness in New York City.

"I appreciate Back on My Feet for honoring me at this year's New York City Benefit dinner," said Sorenson. "To me, running is simply about being active, taking care of myself, being strong enough to meet the responsibilities of a demanding job and setting goals. I am proud to be associated with an organization that assists in doing the same for others."

Marriott has been an avid supporter of Back on My Feet since the organization's early days in Philadelphia and provides tremendous support in all of 11 U.S. cities in which Back on My Feet currently operates. The hospitality leader has generously donated more than $1 million in financial and in-kind support and as a national employment partner has provided valuable training and job opportunities for members.

"We are extremely grateful for Marriott's commitment to Back on My Feet and our members," said Katy Sherratt, Chief Executive Officer of Back on My Feet.  "They are a shining example of the positive impact corporate philanthropy can bring to a community and have helped us transform the lives of thousands of individuals suffering from homelessness. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to honor Arne and the great work of Marriott at our largest event in New York City."

For more than eight decades, Marriott has remained true to its core values and people-first culture through practices and programs that are relevant and impact all generations. In 2011, Marriott established a partnership with Back on My Feet as part of its TakeCare initiative to promote happiness and wellbeing by focusing on the associate, their co-workers and their company. Marriott's partnership with Back on My Feet has grown over time and helped create an atmosphere in which its associates feel proud of their company's workplace and social responsibility.

Back on My Feet NYC's Fourth Annual Benefit dinner is on Thursday, June 16th at the Marriott Marquis. Cocktail hour begins at 6:30PM and tickets and table sponsorships are available at http://www.501auctions.com/bomfnyc.
