HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Sept. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Nature's Answer®, one of America's largest and oldest family owned manufacturers of nutritional supplements, is proud to announce the formation of the Nature's Answer Foundation, and in partnership with the American Cancer Society, the launch of its first annual #Road2WellnessTour.
Led by Nature's Answer CEO Frank D'Amelio, Jr., along with a group of New York-based colleagues and supported by like-minded corporate sponsors, the group will ride their motorcycles more than 4,000 miles, raising money through donations from sponsors, sale of promotional items, and from a portion of the total sale proceeds of Nature's Answer products during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In addition, tax-deductible donations to the Nature's Answer Foundation may also be made through the www.road2wellnesstour.com website.
The journey begins on October 1, 2017, in Los Angeles, California, with stops in Phoenix, Arizona, Denver, Colorado, Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee, Hershey, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere. The tour finishes on October 15, 2017, in Long Island, New York, at the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walkathon at Jones Beach.
Along the way, Frank and the team will stop at key retailers and other partners to raise awareness and donations on a local level in communities across the U.S. The tour also will feature extensive social media using #road2wellnesstour, including frequent updates and live stream coverage on Facebook (Nature's Answer); Twitter (@natures_answer); and Instagram (naturesanswer and road2wellnesstour).
"The effort to support the American Cancer Society and other initiatives, educate people about cancer prevention, and find a cure for cancer is so important to all of us at Nature's Answer. Many of us unfortunately have first-hand experience in dealing with this terrible disease. We decided to time the launch of the Nature's Answer Foundation and the cross-country tour with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, capping it off by arriving at the Making Strides walkathon in our own community," said Nature's Answer CEO Frank D'Amelio, Jr.
Breast Cancer a National Health Issue
In the U.S., about one in eight women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. "Millions of women and their families have been afflicted with this terrible disease, and every contribution counts as we continue the drive to find a cure," D'Amelio said. "We are honored to work with the American Cancer Society and others to help build financial support for finding a cure for breast cancer."
Nature's Answer will donate 10% of total product sales across all channels of distribution during the month of October to the Nature's Answer Foundation to be distributed to various charities to support cancer research. In addition, select Road2Wellness Tour gear is available online at www.road2wellnesstour.com, with the net proceeds from the sale of these items to be donated to qualifying charities, as well.
Tour Stops Highlight Partners and Causes
From the starting line in Los Angeles, The Nature's Answer Foundation's #Road2Wellness Tour includes stops on its coast-to-coast tour to highlight key partners along the way, including the following.
- American Cancer Society Hope Lodge
Facing cancer is hard. Having to face it away from home is harder. That's where the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge comes in, with 31 Hope Lodges across the US offering cancer patients and their families a free place to stay when their best hope for treatment may be in another city. Nature's Answer Foundation is proud to support Hope Lodge, and the #Road2Wellness Tour includes stops on October 2 at Hope Lodge in Phoenix, AZ; October 10 in Nashville, TN; and October 13 in Hershey, PA.
- St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital
Families never receive a bill from St. Jude's for treatment, travel, housing or food related to life-threatening childhood illnesses such as cancer, sickle cell and other diseases. The majority of funding for this world-renowned children's research hospital comes from donors, with only 14% coming from insurance – a vastly different model from other hospitals, and one supported by the Nature's Answer Foundation. The #Road2Wellness Tour will visit St. Jude's in Memphis, TN, on Monday, October 9.
- Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, founded in 1890 and located in Cold Spring Harbor, NY, is one of the world's preeminent institutes specializing in cancer, molecular biology and genetics research. Home to eight Nobel Prize winners, the nonprofit research center employs over 600 researchers and technicians with expertise in cancer, neuroscience, quantitative biology, plant biology, bioinformatics and genomics. The Nature's Answer Foundation and #Road2Wellness Tour are proud to raise funds for the lab's important work.
- Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Bringing it all home to the Nature's Answer Foundation's roots in Long Island, New York, over 4,000 miles, the #Road2Wellness Tour will time the Grand Finish of its coast-to-coast tour to join thousands of walkers plus 250 employees, family and friends at the starting line of the Making Strides walkathon in Jones Beach, NY, on Sunday, October 15.
