Navy League To Honor Prominent Corporate and US Navy Leaders at Their 114th Anniversary Dinner In New York City
NEW YORK, March 29, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, April 19, the New York Council of the Navy League of the U.S. will honor the following individuals at its 114th Anniversary Dinner at the New York Yacht Club in New York City:
Maurice R. Greenberg, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, C.V. Starr & Co., Inc. will receive the RADM J. Robert Lunney Patriot's Award
Admiral Cecil D. Haney, U.S. Navy, Commander United States Strategic Command will receive the Distinguished Service Award
Dr. J. Phillip London, Executive Chairman & Chairman of the Board, CACI International Inc will receive the Leadership in Technology Award
Stuart Parker, President & Chief Executive Officer, United Services Automobile Assn. (USAA) will receive the Leadership in Military Support Award
"We are extremely pleased to recognize these individuals," stated Theodore T. Mason, president of the New York Council. "They represent the finest qualities of leadership in their respective areas, and have significantly contributed to the nation and the nation's sea services," he added.
The principal programs of the New York Council include support of active duty personnel, including welcoming thousands of sailors during ship visits to New York and maintaining educational excellence in the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, Young Marines and Sea Cadet programs. The Council also supports the crew of USS NEW YORK (LPD-21) their adopted ship, and supported the establishment of a supplemental education fund for the crew. In addition, they initiated a forward-focused speaker program about the "New Ways of Warfare" and an annual Commodore John Barry Book Award to recognize significant contributions to American maritime literature. Programs are designed to educate on the importance of the seas services, including the U. S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine Service.
