Navy Master Planner Eric Borrell Announces His Candidacy for President of the United States Running As An Independent
DENVER, Oct. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- U.S. Navy Master Planner Eric Borrell today announced he is a candidate for President of the United States and will run as an Independent.
Borrell, 33, began formulating and communicating his plan to be a Presidential candidate back in October, 2013, completing his official registration with the Federal Election Commission in May 2014.
A native of Metro Detroit, MI, Borrell was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University in 2004 and received a Masters of Urban / Regional Planning from Wayne State University in Detroit.
He has served as a federal officer and Community Planner with the U.S. Navy since March 2008, acquiring unique experience of serving in a combined military and civilian position.
A Community Planner is a multi-disciplinary position involving land use planning, design, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance, information technology, communications, finance and economics.
Borrell plans to announce his choice for Vice President by May 8, 2016. The search for a running mate began only after the defeat of Borrell's petition in the U.S. Supreme Court to access the Colorado ballot as an individual candidate.
The petition, Supreme Court Case no. 14-8792, also presented questions on ballot fees and equal requirements for all candidates, regardless of party affiliation in accessing ballots. In the process, Borrell gained valuable experience in government legislation practice, proceeding Pro Se.
The case reached the Supreme Court docket as part of only one percent of cases accepted upon submittal and raised important issues that could arise in future public elections.
Development of a campaign website is underway whereby citizens will be able to access detailed information on the candidates, their platform and plans for America, as well as information on candidate's status of accessing the ballot in each of the 50 states and District of Columbia. The website will provide resources to support Borrell's access to ballots and instructions on voting options to use on Election Day.
Borrell's campaign theme, 'Wear Purple!' represents the result when mixing the traditional colors of the Democratic Party, blue, and the Republican Party, red.
