NEM USA supplies cutting-edge HRSGs for advanced power plant in Texas
GREENVILLE, S.C., July 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- NEM USA has been awarded the contract for the supply of two cutting-edge Benson heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) for the advanced Panda Temple Power Project in Temple, Texas. Siemens selected NEM for this contract to combine the high efficiencies of the NEM HRSGs and Siemens gas turbines resulting in a power plant which will be among the cleanest fossil-fueled plants in the U.S.A.
The high efficiency and operational flexibility of NEM's HRSGs, made possible by supplementary firing and the specific characteristics of the Benson type, are crucial to the advanced characteristics of the Siemens Flex-PlantTM 30. As a result, the natural gas fired combined cycle plant will be able to commence power generation within ten minutes of startup, while NEM's HRSGs add to the highly efficient production of electricity.
The award of this contract for a state of the art power plant like the Flex PlantTM 30, proves that NEM HRSGs are well-equipped for the environmental challenges and high technological demands of the modern day world.
The purchaser is Panda Temple Power LLC headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The power plant will be located at the Synergy Industrial Park in Temple, Texas. It has a gross installed electrical capacity of 758 megawatts (MW) and will be able to supply the power needs of approximately 750,000 homes in the Central and North Texas regions.
