New AP® Exam Prep Guides End Pernicious Paper Cuts in Students
Omninox Publishing releases its new set of OmniPrep™ guides for the AP exams through on iPad® to enable high school students to approach their studies with adaptive technology.
GAINESVILLE, Fla., April 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- If you've got an AP student, you've probably seen an increased level of stress as their teachers are encouraging them to begin studying for their AP tests. As that happens, you may notice your student suffering from advanced-stage paper cuts.

Depending on how many AP tests your child plans on taking, these paper cuts from their antiquated study books may pose a real threat, but the bigger issue is that these stodgy study materials are even rougher around the edges in the way they deliver content. Omninox Publishing's new set of OmniPrep guides delivers interactive study materials. In the three included full-length, timed practice exams, students will get instant feedback upon submission that won't leave them flipping to the back of the traditional book to check their answers and then at a loss of explanations if they were incorrect.
The OmniPrep guides are available for download in four subjects in the iBooks Store for the iPad and Mac as of March 28: Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Physics and Statistics. For less than $15, each guide includes interactive multiple choice questions, review materials and practice tests written to College Board's Advanced Placement® guidelines.
The Omninox team identified the need to update traditional AP study materials. According to Omninox Co-Founder and CEO Yatit Thakker, "OmniPrep is the most effective way to study for a generation of digital natives. Technology is so ingrained in students that it makes sense to communicate their study materials in a way they are used to."
While big-name guides offer some online content, the materials don't interact with their core books for seamless integration. OmniPrep guides are the only study materials currently on the market that are assisting students using adaptive technology to fill the gap in what other materials offer and the way students want to learn.
In 2013, 2.2 million students took the AP exams, and only 20.1% passed with a 3 or higher, according to College Board's 10-year exam data. This means that for all of the hours spent studying, only about 442,200 exams could possibly count for college credit. Thakker, having taken several AP exams when he was a high school student, understands the importance of passing them and the difficulty students face when all of the exams tend to come one after the other.
"To this day, the AP exams have been the single most cost-effective test I've ever taken," he said, noting that passing these exams saved him a significant amount of money and time in college. This is why he encouraged his team to develop the test materials for some of the exam topics that are considered the most difficult. More OmniPrep™ guides are expected to be available in March 2015, in time for the next AP exam study cycle.
