HOUSTON, March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Hunting PLC announced that it will make a charitable donation as part of the 2012 Hunting Art Prize to New Danville, a self-sustaining, master-planned community dedicated to providing adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities an opportunity to live, work, and grow with their non-disabled peers.
Through a range of programs and enrichment activities, the nonprofit inspires self-reliance and autonomy by providing low-cost housing and educational sessions that teach basic life and job skills.
"We're proud to support an organization so committed to giving adults with disabilities the resources they need to overcome challenges and live independently," said Dennis Proctor, Chief Executive of Hunting PLC, whose U.S. corporate headquarters are in Houston. "New Danville is certainly championing an important cause, and we couldn't be more pleased to contribute toward this effort."
The Hunting Art Prize is a competition for established, emerging, and amateur artists throughout Texas in which participants vie for a $50,000 award.
The recipient of the 2012 prize will be announced at a gala in Houston on April 28.
The competition is historically the most generous annual award in North America for painting and drawing. In 2006, the Hunting Art Prize moved to Houston after a quarter century in the United Kingdom, where it emerged as one of Great Britain's top art awards.
