New Educational Organization Created to Advance Workforce Management Principles and Technology
Workforce Educational Organization becomes first training and certification organization to help employers increase the operational, strategic and financial impact of time and labor management
LEMONT, Ill., May 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Employers looking to maximize the operational, strategic and financial impact of time and labor management can now turn to a comprehensive, authoritative training and certification program offered by the Workforce Educational Organization (WEO), the first non-profit organization designed to increase the understanding, utilization and impact of time and labor management systems from an operational, strategic and financial standpoint. Time and labor management includes timekeeping, scheduling, attendance and leave, data collection, reporting, and labor related analytics.
The organization will launch a professional certification program in early 2013. Developed by industry leaders, researchers, leading academics, policy makers and practitioners, the WEO curriculum will not only cover the fundamentals of time and labor management, but will also break new ground in introducing the application of these technologies to business processes, models and outcomes, including practical strategies for work rules design and implementation.
"The WEO is vastly different from other vendor-sponsored training programs available today," says Lisa Disselkamp , noted workforce management expert/author and co-founder of the WEO. "Unlike programs where individuals become certified by attending webinars given by a particular vendor, the WEO establishes standards for workforce management professionals by developing a knowledge base for the industry and instituting a recognized benchmark for competency that consists of an exam and practical application exercises or projects that are evaluated by peers in the workforce management industry." Among the contributors to the training are John Hausknecht from Cornell and Susan Lambert from the University of Chicago.
According to Ed Frauenheim , a senior editor at Workforce Management, "the WEO is a good example of an all-win approach. Workforce management professionals improve their skills and knowledge; companies get more value out of their software; vendors get happier customers; scholars get a chance to affect the real world of work; and workers get schedules that work for them. We need more business and professional organizations with this sort of inclusive vision."
The WEO certification exam is expected to be complete at the end of December, 2012 and the study guide will be published in January, 2013.
