New Goss Heatset Web Press Now Operational at Cyril-Scott
State-of-the-Art Equipment Includes I-Web In-Line Finishing System
LANCASTER, Ohio, April 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cyril-Scott Company, a Consolidated Graphics, Inc. (NYSE: CGX) company with a specialty in direct marketing print and production services, announced today it has completed the installation of a new six-unit Goss M-500 press. It includes an I-Web in-line finishing system, which, along with the company's existing fleet of 15 heatset web presses, further positions Cyril-Scott as the premier provider of direct marketing and production services.
"With our new fully operational M-500, we look forward to providing our customers with increased versatility and the highest-quality print production services available in the marketplace," said Matt Coltharp, president of The Cyril-Scott Company. "For direct marketers especially, this equipment represents a continued commitment by Cyril-Scott and Consolidated Graphics to providing the creative capacity required by today's marketers to advance direct marketing product development."
The M-500 press is capable of producing 40,000 impressions per hour and is equipped with Omnicon controls to reduce make-ready waste, as well as an Ecocool dryer with integrated chill rolls for improved speed and operational performance. The M-500 also features a 38-inch web width, closed-loop color and registration controls for waste reduction, as well as a sheeter.
The I-Web in-line finishing system enables a complete range of single process finishing that includes cutting, perforating, folding, die cutting, ribbon shifting, gluing, plow folding and personalization. The Goss press will also improve specialized UV applications such as soft touch, speckled and glow in the dark, providing customers with a more specialized, personalized and creative final product.
Separately, Cyril-Scott has transferred a Goss M110C heatset web press from another Consolidated Graphics facility to augment its considerable resources at its centrally-located facility near Columbus, OH. Cyril-Scott is located within 24 hours of 85 percent of the United States' population.
The Goss M500 operational milestone is the latest in a series of strategic moves undertaken by Cyril-Scott to strengthen its position as one of the country's leading direct mail printers and marketing solutions providers. Last November the company hired Joe Tirschfield, a certified G7 Expert and industry-recognized color management and pre-press technology professional, as Pre-Press Technology Director to lead the implementation of G7. That goal was realized on March 30, when Cyril-Scott earned its qualified as a G7 Master printer. These are just a few of the many improvements in equipment and talent that comprise an investment of more than $10 million in Cyril-Scott by Consolidated Graphics.
