LOS ANGELES, Sept. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Highly acclaimed local chef and restaurant owner Hans Rockenwagner is expanding his cafe concept to the bw, an upscale new mixed-use community coming soon to the corner of Wilshire and Barrington. Cafe Rockenwagner is slated to open on November 15.
Like its sister restaurant 3 Square Cafe in Venice, Cafe Rockenwagner at the bw will be a casual, contemporary neighborhood eatery serving a seasonal menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant will serve coffee from Stumptown, along with an assortment of beer and wine. A bakery within the cafe will offer Rockenwagner Bakery products, including pretzel rolls, scones, danishes, breads, cheese twists and cookies, as well as convenient sandwiches and snacks to go.
3 Square Cafe and Rockenwagner Bakery corporate chef Kayson Chong will also serve as Executive Chef at Cafe Rockenwagner. The restaurant and take-out counter will be open Sunday through Thursday from 7am to 10pm, and from 7am to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
While Cafe Rockenwagner is only an elevator ride away for bw residents, renters won't need to step outside their front doors to enjoy the restaurant's offerings. Hans Rockenwagner and property owner California Landmark Group (CLG) have created a unique partnership that enables residents to order room service, with all food items from the Cafe Rockenwagner menu available for delivery to their front doors.
"Since he opened his restaurant here in 1984, Hans Rockenwagner has become a household name in Los Angeles, and we are fortunate to have his newest concept, Cafe Rockenwagner, sit at the heart of the bw," said CLG President and Chief Executive Officer Ken Kahan. "Hans is helping to fill a need for a neighborhood eatery with fresh local fare that will serve as a gathering place for both bw residents and our neighbors."
The 78-unit bw apartment project is about to open at the corner of Wilshire and Barrington. The six-story complex features a zen rooftop garden, modernist lobby and a full-service gym with units ranging in size from 700 to 1,300 feet. The bw offers a unique, hotel-like mix of amenities for residents including a concierge, valet, resident lounge with a full kitchen, and room service from Cafe Rockenwagner.
The bw reflects a luxury hotel experience in more ways than one. Residents have the option to rent on a traditional annual basis, but also on month-to-month terms in fully furnished units, giving local executives, and travelers a place to call home while on the Westside.
