KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii, Sept. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On September 3 at 4 pm, New Hope Waikoloa held their first weekly outreach service in Kona at Hope Services for the population of people that live on that area and on the streets.
"This is an exciting time for us!" said Rob Dalton. He and his wife, Doreen, head up the outreach ministry for New Hope Waikoloa. "We have been working with these people for over a year now and are excited to get to have a set time weekly to get to share the Word of God with them."
The ministry is called E hanai i na hipa a ke Akua, which means "Let us feed God's sheep" in Hawaiian. For this ministry, it has a twofold meaning in that they desire to feed them spiritually with the Word of God as well as feed them physically as they serve them a homemade meal once a month.
The church has been having monthly outreaches where they cook food and deliver it to the people that live in the area. "It has been awesome getting to know some of the people and just understanding where they are at in their life," Pastor Rick Nagaoka of New Hope Waikoloa said.
The service will only last up to 45 minutes with some live worship as well as a short message followed by time for prayer.
