New initiative highlights veterans in pest industry
Pennsylvania member made leader of group
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of National Pest Management Month, the Pennsylvania Pest Management Association (PPMA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Overline as chairman of the newly formed "Pest Vets" committee of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA).
In February, NPMA announced the formation of its new Veterans Group. The mission of the group is to help veterans get jobs in the pest control industry through various education and training opportunities and provide mentoring and support for veterans currently employed in the industry.
Martin Overline, a veteran himself, has operated Aardvark Pest Management out of Philadelphia for the past two decades. Overline served as a U.S. Air Force Entomology Engineer, where he recognized that modern pest control is an art form comprised of pest identification, management techniques, investigative skills and instinct.
"I'm honored to have been selected to head up this initiative," said Overline. "We recognize the service and sacrifice veterans have made, and we want to make sure that they know that opportunities are available in the pest industry."
If you are or know of a veteran who would be interested in working in the pest management field, contact the Pennsylvania Pest Management Association at 1-800-842-9090.
The Pennsylvania Pest Management Association is dedicated to leading the structural pest management industry in the Commonwealth by providing superior education opportunities for the industry, a united voice for the industry in the Commonwealth, and maintaining the trust of its members, as well as the citizens and government of the Commonwealth, while sustaining its tradition of environmental stewardship.
