New Osteoarthritis Knee Brace from Townsend Addresses Patient Compliance

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., March 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Townsend Design has initiated national and international sales of the Dynamic Reliever, a medial compartment osteoarthritis (OA) knee brace that encourages an active lifestyle and healthy living.

The Dynamic Reliever encapsulates Townsend's 20 years of excellence as a leading designer and fabricator of OA knee braces. Three years of development and field testing has produced a brace that optimizes patient compliance without sacrificing the functional benefits expected from a corrective off-loading orthosis.

Feather-weight at 15 ounces, the Dynamic Reliever has semi-rigid nylon shells that self-contour to the leg, addressing all of the issues physicians have cited as reasons why some patients are not compliant with wearing a knee brace.

"Based on our patient testing, we know this brace fits intimately and doesn't migrate, rotate, gap or piston," Knecht said. "The corrective force is adjustable, and the telescopic hinge backs off the three point pressure when the patient is non-weight bearing. Ultimately, it reduces pain and enables patients to increase their involvement in routine activities of daily living."

In a technological breakthrough, the modular design of the Dynamic Reliever makes it the perfect option for disproportional lower limb anatomy. In addition to accommodating XS-XXL legs in only three standard sizes, customers can order off-the-shelf braces 'custom assembled' by Townsend staff using different size thigh and tibia shells, or purchase shell and hinge components to build their own Dynamic Reliever braces.
